Monday Music Inspiration

MUMFORD & SONS!!! I am addicted. It's so refreshing and raw. Here are a couple of my favorites. I left Little Lion Man out because it's extremely popular and you've probably already heard it but these two are some gems you probably won't here on vh1 or mtv at the moment.

Oscar Season

Okay, so I realize that my last 3 posts have been about an absolutely precious baby. ( I don't really see a problem...) but I think it can't hurt to try a new topic for a minute or two. Let's talk about the Oscars.

So the Oscars are fast approaching...and considering filmmaking is my major I can't help but be hyper aware of the nominees. Now, that said -- I usually end the night in disappointment because I'm not totally satisfied with the outcome. Although, last year I was really proud of Hurt Locker! AND the female director (Kathryn Bigelo)!

This year I am slightly disappointed that Nolan didn't even get a nod for best director with Inception. I feel like the Nolans always get short changed at the Oscars...
But I'd rather talk about something I am happy about in the Oscar nominees: Alice in Wonderland - Best Costume Design - Colleen Atwood
You may not recognize the name...but seriously IMDB her because I promise she has worked on some of your favorite movies. To name a few: Edward Scissorhands, That Thing You Do!, Sleepy Hollow, Chicago, Big Fish, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.

Her work is amazing and Alice in Wonderland was so refreshing to watch as far as costumes went. I particularly loved this dress:

And it's so crazy to think the same costume designer produced this too:

I think this is the first and only time I have ever looked at a suit of armor and thought, "Man, I kinda wish I could wear that!"

So I don't know if Colleen will clench the win in this category (she's up against some stiff competition) but I sure hope she does!! She's the winner in my heart!

What are some of your favorite movies in terms of costume design??

*So sorry I didn't credit these photos I googled them all if you know the original source let me know*

Bea's Birthday Hat

This is the hat I made for Bea in the waiting room. It was super easy and also a little big...lol I was estimating ok she wasn't here when I made it!

I think it's a cute little keepsake because it was literally made on her birthday. Maybe I'll be a really devoted auntie and make her one for every birthday...ha I'm not fully committing to that one yet.
It's safe to say that the Greenwood family is pretty precious!

Baby Bea has Arrived

Bailey is here!

She arrived yesterday :-). It was magical, I went to the hospital at 2:30 and I got to meet Bailey at about 10:30. She was so perfect! I mean absolutely perfect and beautiful.

I am smitten. I also made her a cute hat while we were waiting...I'll have to upload pictures later. Unfortunately, now I have to stop swooning over beautiful baby bea and go to class.

My Unofficial Neice...

Baby Bea (AKA Bailey) will be here so soon! My best friend since about the 5th grade is having a precious baby girl very soon. The due date is Jan 29...so we'll see. I'm so excited...and usually I don't get that excited about babies. But I'm so anxious I've already bought/made her a lot of cool stuff. (Ummm...can you imagine what's going to happen when she's actually here??!) So I just want to show you some of the awesome stuff I got her :-):

If you have a child and you've never heard of Rockabye Baby or Twinkle Twinkle Little Rock Star you should go to itunes, or rhapsody, or whatever your preference for buying music and look them up! It will rock your world. I bought Bea two cd's that are lullaby renditions of Queen and Journey. Can I just say they're amazing!! You can get them super cheap on Amazon.com :-).

Yea...I know what you're all thinking "Whoa Krystle, best present ever!" jkjk you're probably thinking, "Whoa, I have to check this out." But I digress, I'll stop trying to read your mind.

In addition to those two phenomenal gifts (which I was so excited about I gave them to her before the baby shower!) I made a couple of brand spankin new onesies for her - courtesy of the Hello Ladies Sweatshop.

Here's one with a cute frilly collar (3-6 months)

I've got even more ideas for this one and for larger ones like 12 months and up :-)

Here's the other one that I am pretty proud of:
A bee onesie...like Bea :-). I'm pretty proud of my play on words there.

If you wanna see more stuff that we've recently finished in the Hello Ladies Sweatshop you should check out the HL blog!

Monday Music Inspiration: Guilty Pleasure Edition

yep...Hall & Oates. I know this probably solidifies my "dork status". Personally, I think it's worth it because I love these guys! This song came on the radio in my car the other day and I was totally car dancing in the parking lot.

Hopefully you're inspired in some way. If the music doesn't inspire you to do something creative then perhaps this post will inspire you to embrace some of your more "dorky" character traits :-)

much love!

My almost last semester...

Wow...this has been the longest short week everrrr. I had a sort of scheduling fiasco Tuesday and had to drop a class then add one that was already closed. This cannot happen to me because it could throw off my whole graduation date and everything. So...knowing that, I marched right up to the Department Chair's office and knocked on the door. Luckily, he was a nice guy and even though I had never met him before, he overrode the closure and personally registered me for the class. Whew!

I like the way the semester is starting off though. I am super busy and stressed right now, BUT it's going to get better as the semester goes on. So I'd rather get all this stress out of the way now at the beginning and be able to enjoy the end of my semester. :-)

p.s. Team Danger begins shooting in less than a month! OMG!!!!!!!

Is it ok to be BFF with a cat?

This is Roxy.

This is the first day I got her. She's so beautiful, grey and white. She loves people and she loves me.

We instantly bonded. and even though we've had to spend a lot more money on her than we anticipated I am so glad we found each other.

I have Josh to thank for that :-). He loves her too...but I think he's a little jealous because she likes me more.
But I think more than anything/anyone else she loves to sleep.

I just had to share with you all my newest family member :-).

I'm off to watch Once Upon A Time in Mexico (with Roxy, of course).

smooches!

Monday Music Inspiration

Okay...my dad got me two Tom Petty albums for Christmas! And, it may not be new edgy/indie/trendy music...but I still love them. Seriously, if you want to take a road trip - make a tom petty playlist on your mp3 player and just go! For example, have you ever seen Elizabethtown? First of all, Cameron Crow is amazing at picking a great soundtrack, and second - Tom Petty was totally on Orlando Bloom's road trip mixtape. It is so true life - great driving music. I listen to Tom Petty when I'm in a happy mood! So I hope you enjoy these few songs.

Don't be shy 2011.

Ok...so staying with my parents over the break was nice enough. But the internet isn't the best so I'm finally back at home with reliable internet. 2011 decided to be bold and started with lots of changes. I have one less roommate - long story that I'd rather not talk about...but hey Mandy M and I will still have tons of fun! I'm taking new classes (It's my second to last semester!!) Just bought my books today - over $400.00! Jeeeeez I have 4 books just for one history class. I'm getting ready to shoot my final project in February! So yea...2011 is coming on strong right now. I'm ready...or at least I'm getting ready.

I hope everyone has had lovely holidays and big dreams for 2011. I'll be doing a 2011 goals post soon :-)
