just a little venting.

Okay, I promise, I'm having an awesome day...and awesome week even.
But it just amazes me how someone can make you so happy and so frustrated at the same time! How is that even possible? Sometimes you think a person should know you and then they do things that make you wonder...
I swear, I'm still happy about my week and all the amazing things that have happened. I'm still totally stoked about the bachelorette party tomorrow. I just needed to vent a teensy little bit. People can be so unreliable...even your best friends. It's just part of life I suppose.

Happy thoughts...I'm painting my room tomorrow.
This color (it's called caribbean holiday):

I found the color here on the Olympic website. It's so awesome. I could stay on there forever. You change the colors of their pictures to match your favorites. It's so much fun!!

Love y'all!

On a happy note: I have finished all of my classes for this semester. I survived...it's the end :-)!! I only have three finals next week! I am loving this last two weeks of school!! ANNNND this wedding is so close I can't wait. It's going to be so sweet.

P.S. Thanks for all the sweet comments on my last post! I love y'all :-).

Hope you're having a great day!

Working Girl

So, I made a hot pink hat this weekend. I was feeling crafty and that's what happened. I'm going to take pictures of it today and share them with you later.

I just want to tell everyone how excited I am. I had an interview at the WHRC this morning and I got the internship!!! WOOOOOO HOOOOOO :-). I'm gonna be a working girl. I can't wait to get started. I'll be working with the photographers and even doing some filming. (I heard  that videos of the artifacts will be put on the website soon.) But I'll also get to work in conservation. Which means I'll be cleaning up super old artifacts and prepping them for photo shoots. YAY! I'm so excited, hopefully I'll get to start sometime in May.

Random note: I bought some coke in glass bottles the other day...and I absolutely love it. I'm looking for cool things to make with my empty glass bottles now because I just can't throw them away. Any ideas?

I'll be back later with a picture-y post :-) loves...

I've got the itch

I am dying to do something crafty. School has been so stressful and busy...I am picking up the yarn and crochet hook as we speak.
*weheartit.com keyword: yarn*

I'm making something I don't know what I'm making yet...but something is getting made. That is all. :-)

Bachelorette Party!!

My best friend in the whole wide world is getting married on May 8 and I'm throwing her bachelorette party soon. I am so excited it is going to be sooo fun. lol no strippers though. I'm making a special cake for her and we're going out for supper. Then we're going to play a couple games and open presents and then....Mandy and I are going to set up a photo booth area and we're gonna take dress up pictures! It is going to be sososo much fun! I've been looking at these on ebay for a while and I wish I would have one in time for the party...but I don't think that will happen.
A girl can dream though...

The girls and I went over to our house to do laundry tonight and we had coke floats.

They were amazing!!

I also got amazing news about my internship today :-). I have an interview on Monday and it isn't for the original position that I applied for. They were intrigued by my filmmaking skills and decided I was better for a different position: documenting the artifacts. This means I can get credit for history (my minor) and filmmaking (my major)!! If I get the job...it isn't official yet. I'm considering it mine because it's perfect for me. haha if you want to check it out go here.

ANNND tomorrow is my last chemistry lab woo hoooo!!!

OOOH and I'm going on a little trip with my friends jess, kev, sarahbeth, and josh on Saturday. It's going to be a blast. I can't wait!!
Hope y'all are having an awesome week!

Are you living?

Yesterday was the Big Press at my church. We've done it for 7 years now and it gets better and better every year. I was so excited to see such a great piece on the 10pm news! Here it is:

It was so much fun and everyone did such a great job! Rotnei Clarke and Chip Brim did amazing jobs speaking to the young men. Rotnei asked the question "Are you living or just existing?" That's definitely something to think about! So exciting :-)

I'm in the process of sending off my application for the WHRC...I'm believing that they had to extend that application deadline because I haven't applied yet. lol They're waiting for me! I should know something soon.

all about college

Oh my goodness. I haven't been on the internet just for fun in soooo long. Wow. I've been checking emails and sending emails and writing papers and resumes and "vita" I'm applying for an internship at the Wilson History & Research Center :-) There are 3 awesome things about this internship:
1. I would be working at the Military Headgear Museum
2. It is a paid, full-time internship
3. I would have more than enough hours to get credit for Film AND History
I've been doing some thinking since last week and I'm seriously considering going for a double major. I think it would only be 1 more semester and since I already expected to graduate in spring 2012 it doesn't really hurt me that much.
I also found out that since Arkansas passed the lottery I have $5,000 a year available to me now because I have a 3.9 GPA. WHAT??!? I'm not gonna lie, I totally voted for the lotto to pass because I was hoping to get some of that money for college.

So far, I'm having a pretty amazing week. I hope you are too. I'll come back with a pretty post and some pretty pictures I promise.

love!

Mr. Emerson

So, we just screened the rough cut of my short...and wow. I think if I were a sensitive person I might have been crying. Fortunately, I'm a machine and I don't cry. haha. My prof totally hated it. She complained the entire time. Our color temperature was too warm for her taste, our actors over acted, it wasn't 16:9, it wasn't cut tight enough. Jeez...I was under the impression that rough cut meant not perfect. Let me just say for the record: Our color temperature was warm on purpose (we're going opposite of blue because the whole movie is about a girl searching for something blue). And our actresses did a great job.

I would be extremely upset and sorry for myself about this but I happen to have this favorite quote by Mr. Ralph Waldo Emerson, "Is it so bad to be misunderstood?  Pythagoras was misunderstood, andSocrates, and Jesus, and Luther, and Copernicus, and Galileo, and Newton, and every pure and wise spirit that ever took flesh. To be great is to be misunderstood."

Thanks Mr. Emerson for representing all the people who break with convention every once in a while. Just a little encouragement for you in case you're ever misunderstood just remember you're in good company :-).

Today...

Is the busiest but BEST day everrrr!

First of all, I had/have tons of stuff to do. I'll be up for a very long time tonight.
1. capture, edit, burn Easter dvd's
2. do Chemistry assignment and pre-lab
3. write world lit paper
4. screen rough cut
5. Go to CPC for Norvel Hayes tonight at 6:30 pm :-)

THEN, I was looking over my classes for the rest of my college career and I found out something amazing. I only have 45 hours of college left. Count them, that's only 3 semesters. That means I'll be done in December of 2011 instead of the spring of 2012. I have no idea how this happened...but I am only 1 1/2 years away from my Bachelor's degree. WOOHOOOOO! I'm am totally happy right now.

Oh, and I also found out that I only have finals on wed and thur of finals week. ...that's like the easiest final week ever. :-)

wow what an awesome day. I hope you're having one too!

I just want to share this

Okay, just a quick note before I take a short nap and finish this assignment. I'm writing my research paper about the portrayal of women in advertisements from the 1950's through 1980...and let me tell you, it is so much fun to write papers about things that you actually have an opinion on. I'm going to have 10 pages dripping with sarcasm. I really hope my professor doesn't rip me apart for it. But seriously, I don't think it's necessary to use a voluptuous woman in a swimsuit to sell mens' shaving cream. And that's only the start. If you haven't seen this or heard of Jean Kilbourne you should totally netflix Killing Us Softly and it's sequel Still Killing Us Softly (unoriginal title but amazing doc). It's a documentary about women and advertising...it will blow your mind. I can't believe I don't own it, but I've seen the first one twice. I can't believe I'm so digging writing a paper, I mean I wouldn't call it having fun...but I'll totally keep a copy of it when it's finished. Okay, don't judge me for anything I just said at least not until you've seen the documentaries I mentioned. I only wanted to share because I think it's so interesting :-).

Love ya!

Weekend fun!

Well, it's Monday...I just spent a fabulous weekend in Louisiana with my best friend.

I posted once from my phone :-). Let me tell you something, her grandpa is the best cook that has ever lived! I probably gained 100 pounds while I was down there. We had the most delicious steaks and sausage and beans and bread and salad and baked potatoes....wow. What he's really good at is Crawfish. I absolutely have never tasted any crawfish as good as his. I am just waiting for him to come back to Arkansas and have another crawfish boil...I will invite myself and Josh. haha. I'll post some pics of the trip later :-).

It is the 12th, which means I have 3 weeks of school left, then finals, and then THE wedding. I'm trying to get moved into the new place before the wedding so that I don't have to mess with it during finals week and the wedding and all that...so let's hope that I get on top of things and get that done.

Right now, I have to write a 10 - 12 page research paper.....see you later lol

p.s. I'm going to be crafty this week.

My Music History

I have a ridiculous love for vinyl records.

My dad is definitely an eclectic soul. He taught me the appropriate respect for Motown and the classic country. My brother (who is 16 years older than me) taught me my love for classic rock and pretty much any amazing bands.  My mom gave me the courage to sing whatever I wanted whenever I wanted. She loves to sing along with the car radio. By the time I was 6, I could sing every word of "My Girl" (Temptations), "Don't Stop Believin'" (Journey), pretty much any U2 song you can imagine, "Lovesick Blues" (Hank Williams). So as you can see, I've been raised to appreciate it all. I suppose on my own I fell in love with Jack Johnson!! He is definitely my go to in any situation...it's so soothing. I remember vividly the very first time I heard Jack Johnson, it was "Bubble Toes" and I was with my bff Char in the back seat of my dad's car. We couldn't get it out of our heads.

As a housewarming present, my dad bought me a vintage 1950's record player (I know best dad everrr right). It looks like this I think (I haven't seen it yet bc it's being completely rebuilt with original parts!!) :

So I've started trying to acquire my own amazing record collection. My dad's is pretty amazing (over 300). My list is no where near that size, however, it is growing as I add to it. I've already made a small dent in it. Here's my list as of today:

1. U2 - The Joshua Tree (Guess what I've already got this one!)
2. Jack Johnson - In Between Dreams (Guess what...Sarahbeth bought me this one. SHE IS THE BEST!)
 3. Jack Johnson - Sleep Through The Static
4. Matt Costa
5. Kings Of Leon - Only By The Night
6. Journey - Escape
7. Sam Cooke
8. Sheryl Crow
9. Corinne Bailey Rae (The one with Like a Star and Put Your Records on)
10. Coconut Records - Davy
11. Them Crooked Vultures
12. Dashboard Confessional - The Shade of Poison Trees

Do you love vinyl? What are some of your favorite musical influences? I'd love to know :-)

smooches!

Have a Nice Day

Okay, so I am in no way shape or form thinking of having children...but someday in like 100 years when I do have a kid. I want it to be this one.

Lights, camera, action!

Hello there. I haven't been here in a while. This weekend was so crazy and fantastic all rolled into one. I had to majorly catch up on sleep last night and today.

Let me tell you about our shoot. First of all, we shot at Lauren's house, which is so fabulous with all it's huge windows that we got to shoot all day without even opening our light kit. That in turn, saved us about TWO HOURS (that's right two whole hours). We were scheduled to finish at 7:30 and we wrapped and were loaded up by 6 pm. I was totally shocked and amazed at how smooth the process went. No one was arguing, no one was being counter productive. Everyone did their job and got a long and we were a happy family :-). I had been praying about it for a long time because I didn't know about my skills as a director telling people what to do. Now we are in the post production stages. It should be edited and ready to go in about 2 weeks. I am so grateful to everyone who helped out. Especially, Miss Kay, Lauren's mom, who graciously let us take over her house for a whole day. Lauren and Cat did an amazing job as actresses too! I can't wait to premiere the short here on my blog in the near future.

I'm very excited about tonight. Josh is coming to visit me!! I haven't seen him since LAST Friday.

I know I know make fun of me. But I miss that goofy boy. And I don't like being so busy during the weekend that I can't see him. YAY.

This week, I'm going to be writing my History paper. NO CRAFTING until I finish. That's pretty good incentive to get my work done :-). But I still hope you can find the time to be crafty!

LoVE you

Decoration Inspiration

I haven't done this in a really really long time...but it's Thursday so I think it's time for some decoration inspiration. I tried to find a real theme, but it turned out similar to my post about cool framing of pictures. This decoration inspiration is about cool ways to display art.

Here are some ways I found on Better Homes and Gardens here
I love these shelves they're so clean and simple.

And of course, I love frames of different shapes.

Here are some really cool displays I found at Apartment Therapy here

Clothes line style! I love it :-)

I really love hanging frames by a longer string like this.

And of course!...chalkboard walls. I am determined to have one, somewhere in my house.

Oh and I found this on hgtv.com here

I absolutely L.O.V.E. the whole peg board inside a frame. It's such a cool way to organize a workspace.

So, I've got to admit, I had lots and lots of tests this week and I think I did good on um. 2 of them...yea. Needless to say, I can't wait to make my directing debut this weekend. :-)

Bye for now lovelies!
