Happy Christmas

Oh it's Christmas time! I have to say that right this second on Christmas Eve I'm not in the merriest of moods. My Christmas cheer was in short supply today. However, good things happened today.

1. I finished half of my very secret cool project...house slippers made from granny squares...so when I say I've finished half that means I have one slipper made. Which is why there is only one shoe in this picture. I even put a lining in the bottom because granny squares are hole-y and that doesn't really work for house slippers. I'm pretty proud of them, well it.  I'm going to finish the mate after this Christmas chaos is over.

2. My friend Steph bought me District 9 for Christmas and I LOVE that movie. One of my favorite things about it is that the aliens have plain names like Christopher. If I ever meet an alien I hope his/her name is something easy like that because I like names that I can pronounce.

3. Stephenie's mom sent our family some cakeballs which are sinfully DELICIOUS...wow is all I can really say.

4. It's Christmas Eve and in about 8 hours I can open all my presents. I know what they are so I know how much I love them already! Like a pair of rainboots I could have used yesterday and today.......

Just for fun (and because I'm building my Christmas spirit back up). Here is a list of my FAV Christmas flicks!

1. Elf. - Love it, even when it's not Christmas!
Fav. line = "Buddy the elf, what's your favorite color?" oh or...

2. White Christmas - Um, Bing Crosby, enough said. OH and it's my all time favorite Christmas song...just ask Jess about that some time.
3. Holiday Inn - Josh introduced me and I loved it! Bing Crosby and Fred Astaire...fabulous.
4. A Christmas Story - Such a classic! The leg lamp scene...oh my goodness.
5. How the Grinch Stole Christmas - Of course! (The cartoon not Jim Carrey) "You're a mean one Mister Grinch..." Ha it's just not Christmas without it.
6. Nightmare Before Christmas - Well, I love Tim Burton, no matter how weird he is. I have loved this movie for a long time. I'm pretty sure the first time I saw it, it wasn't even close to Christmas time.
7. Jingle All the Way - Okay, Sinbad and Arnold...HI-larious. I love it so much.
8. The Santa Claus - That little boy is so precious. And I totally wanted a magic snowglobe.

Okay...Happy Christmas everyone. I hope you watch a cute Christmas flick with your family and eat lots of food and make merry memories. p.s. It just started snowing! I'm excited but I hope I don't get stranded...or if I do get stranded in my own house I hope that Josh makes it here so he can be stranded with us lol.

Be crafty, be blessed, and have a fabulous Christmas

Just a Second

I'm just stopping by for a sec to tell you that I'm posting pics later of THE CUTEST hand warmers I made for my roomie! :-) I just finished them and I'm so proud...now I have 3 pair left to make.

I'm in the lab working on our film "Paper Box Time Machine" YAY I'm so excited we should finish tonight or tomorrow.

This is our time machine :-).

These guys were awesome, such great sports about everything (especially when they were sitting around during technical difficulties).

This is when they've just travelled back in time.

This cutie-pie isn't actually in the film but he was there everyday and he stole my heart. How adorable is he?

Mamacita, Donde Esta Santa Claus

It's Christmas time :-)!! (P.S. Donde esta Santa Claus is one of my favorite Christmas songs especially the remake by Guster) This weekend was so relaxing and Christmas-y after such a nasty week last week. On Thursday, I got home a little before 6, fixed supper for the boys aka my dad and brother and watched the 25th Anniversary of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Concert. It's four hours long and sooo good...I haven't finished yet. I want to savor every minute of it. Josh came to visit me after he dominated some Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, and we watched this movie.

It's not a deep movie, it's not a holiday movie, it's has no cinematic value whatsoever...BUT if School of Rock and Almost Famous had a baby it would be this movie. I've watched it three times and I just laugh, it's hilarious.

Then, Friday my dad and I decorated our Christmas tree...I'll add a pic when I get home...I left my camera there once again. Josh came to get me and we watched this movie

It was my first time to see this one and I L.O.V.E.D. it! How cute are these Bing Crosby/Fred Astaire movies? My other favorite is White Christmas, another Bing Crosby classic. I DVR-ed it Saturday, so I'll be watching that this weekend :-).
My mom and dad took the fam shopping Saturday and I got a super cute pair of boots that I'll be wearing with some vintage 70's skirts I got from Miss Carol (THANKS!!) And I got new rainboots because my precious Japan rainboots have more holes than I can count...and that just doesn't work out in rainboots. :-(
We finished the day at J&S Italian Villa. OH MY GOODNESS, we only eat there at Christmas and it's worth the year long wait, how delicious. You should try it if you're ever in Hot Springs, your mouth will thank you!

Now, I'm back at school. I've taken two finals, worked a bit on our film Paper Box Time Machine, gave the HL blog a yuletide makeover, and now I'm going to work on some Christmas presents for my roomies. Merry Christmas!!

Last day of Classes! :-)

Okay, I am so excited because it's the last day of classes. I have almost survived (Thanks Jesus!) BUT I can't stay here long because I literally have to go to lab in 5 minutes. I just want to tell you about our Secret Santa with the boys across the hall! It was so much fun, I love giving presents. I drew Josh's name, and through our many crazy times together I learned that if he was a super hero his name would be "The Chemist" and his super power would be flicking bottle caps with deadly force. SO I made him a pin out of a rootbeer bottle cap and modpodged a piece of paper in it that says "The Chemist" with a picture of a beaker and a graduated cylinder. He LOVED it. I love giving presents :-). My present was from Robin, we haven't really spent that much time together but he did an amazing job! A basket - o - goodies!! My personal favorite item is the bag of chai chocolate!!! I can't wait to try it. Anyways this has all gotten me into the Christmas spirit and I've discovered that I desperately NEED not just want but NEED a Jack Johnson Christmas cd...how amazing would that be?!? And now I must go because I'm late for lab.

Happily Surprised.

So, I thought on Sunday night that this week was going to kill me or at least put me in ICU clinging to life by a thread, BUT happily, I was wrong :-). I finished two of my papers, and my early class and lab got cancelled today. So I spent a few hours last night in the library researching one of my papers and when I got back I finished up part 1 of my super secret project. It worked :-) but it looks like a true frankenstein :-( I mean it really is scary...so hopefully I'll improve greatly on part 2. Here's a hint, they comes in pairs. I should be able to work the kinks out in part 2 and then make a real product that I can actually let people see! lol I think one problem is my cheap stiff yarn. But i'd rather practice with it and then spend money on good yarn than mess up and waste a lot of good yarn on an ugly frankenstein. Anyway, I have homework to do so I'll get to it.

My friend from highschool just uploaded this on his facebook and it made me laugh out loud. So I hope you enjoy it with me today! haha

What a Week

I will start by apologizing for not posting much this week. I will follow that apology with a breakdown of this week.

MONDAY: Cinema History Paper, Cinema History Quiz, World History Paper
TUESDAY: rough cut of our short film (it's so cute and awesome!)
WEDNESDAY: PSYCH test
THURSDAY: Digital Film 1 Paper, American Nation Paper

The highlight of this week is that it's only a four day week, I get to go home Thursday. Then next week is finals week which means it's almost Christmas break! And boy am I ready for that. I need to relax. I think I almost had a breakdown today just thinking about the rest of this week, I was freaking out...I don't know what happened but right now it feels manageable, so I hope I can maintain this peaceful state until about 4 pm Thursday.

In other, much happier news I got 6 chairs this weekend at the Habitat for Humanity Restore for just 75 dollars! I'm so happy, of course my dad (the furniture restoring KING) is going to spruce them up a bit for me. I also got a couple of beds, a couch, and a dishwasher for free from my auntie! I love my family they're so supportive. Can't wait to move in!!!

MOST EXCITING NEWS OF ALL:
The Etsy shop is officially stocked with cool Hello Ladies merch! I hope you all buy sweet handmade presents for your friends and family this Christmas :-) http://helloladies.etsy.com

It's almost Thanksgiving!

Guess what. I'm making my own super easy crochet hat pattern! I am super excited about it :-). It's almost finished. There are a few kinks I need to work out but overall it has been going smooth considering I'm making it up. Tomorrow I will post pictures when I finally get home. I know that I'll be home by 5 tomorrow, but tomorrow is going to be so busy that I just want to quit and go home now. EXCITING NEWS!!!!!!: gearing up to open the Etsy shop. It's going to happen over Thanksgiving break! So, if everything goes according to plan, by this time next Monday, the shop should be up and running for all your handmade needs! YAY :-)

Just for fun here are some pics I was looking at last week when I was feeling melancholy. They made me feel better! weheartit.com is my personal life raft when I need a pick me up.

Exciting Week

Oh, I have been busy and it's only Monday! This week lots of exciting things are happening. My best friend's friend is having a baby boy, Braden, tomorrow! Congrats to her, I know that Auntie Lauren will spoil him rotten every chance she gets :-). ALSO, Thursday at 11:58 P.M. some of my closest friends and I are going to the premiere of New Moon! Most of them have already made their shirts but Cat and I are doing ours on Wednesday night. Here's my design for the front.

I'll post some pictures of our finished product on Wed. night!

Most importantly, Josh's birthday is Friday!!! I have several presents for him, most of them are funny. I'm thinking of wrapping them all so he'll have lots of presents to open! I got him a 2 - disc Petra ultimate collection. As a joke of course, I think Petra is lame and Josh claims to think they were awesome. He's also been talking a lot about wanting a pair of overalls, so I bought some today. The funny part is that I didn't know what size he wore but luckily we're about the same size in the waist. SO, I just tried on overalls until something fit. And then I have some little cute presents like a letter and a six pack of mtn. dew and some money for a hunting liscence and a picture that I drew for his birthday last year but forgot to give him. I'm really excited about it!

And also exciting but not as important as the birthday and New Moon...we are filming our short film on Saturday and I'm really anxious to get started on a real project. I can't wait and I got placed in an awesome group I love them all! My official role is editor so I won't have many responsibilities in the actual shooting of the film...but I have to design a shirt for one of the characters!

It's going to be so fun it's about time travel!

P.S. I'm also working on another hat I should finish it tonight or tomorrow :-).

I love a lot of things. One is weheartit.com and another...PIGLETS! OH, I've wanted a pet piggy for so long. I've been browsing through cute pig pics all day today. My main reservations are money and pigs tend to destroy your house when you keep them as pets. I've researched it a lot and read a few horror stories but I still dream of having a little piggy. I even know what I'll name it! Bogart :-) It doesn't matter if it's a girl or boy it will be named Bogart. I thought I'd share a couple of the ADORABLE cute pig pics I found on weheartit.com.

The Soundtrack of My Life...today...

So, my friend and fellow HL made everyone these awesome cd's and I love it sososo much! Well, it inspired me to do this little project. I had so much fun. I mean a LOT of fun. I've decided to make a playlist that represents the important things in my life. This will probably change..like in 5 minutes. BUT as of right this second if my life were a movie this would be my soundtrack.

1. Burn Out Brighter – Anberlin: I really just want to live a life with a purpose and this song is so inspiring! “Live, I want to live inspired. Die, I want to die for something higher than myself.”

2. Dreams Be Dreams – Jack Johnson: This song makes me want to turn all my dreams into reality “Don’t let your dreams be dreams”

3. Let Your Light Shine – Hillsong Kids: Um, ok don’t judge me. it’s my guilty pleasure. :-) I L.O.V.E. this song. Me and my roomie sing it all the time!

4. Hard to Make a Stand – Sheryl Crow: I feel like this one and the next one are kind of self – explanatory…

5. I Won’t Back Down – Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers

6. Stuck In A Moment – U2: Yes, even I have bad days. I just have to remember not to get stuck in a rut. (PS I llllllove U2!)

u2 360 tour sin palabras, Vertigo
( ro.ramirez )

7. Lost – Coldplay: I just love the idea of “Just because I’m losing doesn’t mean that I’m lost, doesn’t mean that I’ll stop”

8. Don’t Stop Believin’ – Journey: Okay, it’s kind of my theme song...Don’t Stop Believin’ is my ringtone on pretty much everyone’s phone lol and it’s sort of turned into a mantra

9. Let’s Go Crazy – Prince and the Revolution: This is my song for college. Because college life is pretty hectic. Sometimes a little overwhelming and it drives me crazy. Haha and because I wanted to put Prince on my list.

10. You’ve got a friend in me: My dedication to Lauren. She’s always always always been there for me no matter what. Hands down the best friend I’ve ever had – girl-wise that is. I hope I’m as good to her as she is to me! (PS this is my ringtone for her!)

11. Girls Just Want To Have Fun - Cindy Lauper: This is for my Hello Ladies. Because that's what we really do in the sweatshop, all the cool stuff we make is just a side effect of all the fun we're having!

12. Just Like A Star – Corinne Bailey Rae: I never expected to find Josh, I wasn’t even looking for him, and then all of a sudden he was there - “Just like a star across my sky.”
13. The Only One – Yael Naïm: Not only does this have the coolest music video everrrr! It’s so cute and it always makes me think of Josh.

What are some songs that would be on your soundtrack?

The Coffee Table Project Update

Hello there, Krystle here.
Well, after a few weeks of not even touching the coffee table, I have begun it's renovation :-).
I'm almost finished getting the magazines stuck on the tabletop and from there it's just layer after layer of varnish. I've been looking for other decoupage tables for inspiration and since I don't have any pics of my table as of yet (I loaned my camera to my big bubba for the weekend) I will share my inspiration with you!

Here's one from Bombus

Comic side table

and this one from ShelleyKayCullen

My old kitchen table~

and this one by blottedcopybook

My latest not-quite-finished craft project

My decoupage style is a little more messy and random than these photos. Of, course that statement applies to more than just my decoupage style ha. But, that's the story of my life. I'll have pictures of the finished project as soon as I get my camera back :-).

Frankenstein Hat

First of all, thanks so much to Miss Windy for giving me these amazing patterns! I found this one for a hat and I tried it out. This is my first attempt and I have to say I'm a little excited because it's my Frankenstein hat and it doesn't look that scary (I call all my first attempt at anything Frankenstein because it usually turns out scary). This only took me about 4 hours total. It needs a few adjustments and some better quality yarn and it will be perfect! Unfortunately, I left my camera at my parents house so I had to take these pictures with my phone but I think you'll still get the idea.

I can promise we'll be adding these cute hats to the booth at the Helping Hands Craft Show November 13 and 14! Thanks again Miss Windy I had so much fun with this pattern and I'm going crazy with the book you sent :-).

It's going to be a good week.

First of all I want to say Happy Birthday to the lovely Jessica! Today is her birthday and I'm not around to give her a present BUT hopefully, I'll have one the next time I see her! Love you Jess :-).

Saline-O-Ween was a lot of fun! I enjoyed hanging out with the ladies! Plus Josh...he came to literally hold down the fort. It was sooo windy. It wasn't quite the turn out that we were hoping for but it was a beautiful sunny day and we sold a lot of earrings and button rings. I sold my only finished pair of fingerless gloves about 15 minutes after I put them on the table. I'm putting the finishing touches on another pair for someone in our church. They're looking pretty good maybe I'll have pictures later. I'm also going to make a Yarn run today because I'm tired of the 3 colors I have and I'm running out. I think I'm going to look for some cool teal and maybe some wintery/Christmasy colors. Miss Windy loaned me a couple of books and I'm going crazy. I'm so excited to start some new patterns. Thanks Miss Windy!! This is going to be a good week and I'm just gonna get crafty as much as possible. You should too!

I Live For Weekends!

Three fabulous things happened this weekend:

First, I got to use my vintage 1965 KitchenAid mixer that my wonderful boyfriend gave me! I made some home made buttercream icing for a cake I was making.

Thanks Joshie!!

My best friend in the whole wide world since Kindergarten, turned 20 last tuesday. SO, I made her a cake. It's a smiley face cake because she loves smiley faces :-) and I love her!!

Happy Birthday Lauren!!

ALSO, my awesome family and I spent yesterday at my new house putting down new flooring. It looks like a different house, I'm not kidding. Here are some before and after pics.

Before

After

So, now I have to say goodbye to the weekend and fun and freedom...because I have three big tests this week, which is why I can't even go to craft night at church. BOO for church activities on Monday nights. Perhaps I'll find a second to be creative this week, we'll see.

Trying New Things.

So, I sat down today, my first day of this week without homework, and I decided to broaden my crochet horizons. :-) I made a headband, which is really easy because you just make a band and then sew the short ends together. BUT I also learned to make...wait for it...a FLOWER :-))) I am so excited about it. The first one I made was kind of huge. So I found a pattern for a smaller one. Then the pattern didn't work for me. Finally, I just made up my own flower pattern and it turned out really cute. Of course, I just used yarn that was available to me so it isn't all that fashionable BUT if I can do it with crazy yarn, then I can do it with any yarn.

The first flower (like I said kind of huge).

My made up flower :-).

Be crafty and broaden your horizons!
