The Soundtrack of My Life...today...

Okay, on November 9, 2009 I made a post called The Soundtrack of My Life...today... and I even put a disclaimer on it saying it would probably change. So, I think it will be fun to do another one just to see how my perspective has changed in the past 2 years. Okay, so here is the Soundtrack of My Life...Today (2/2/2011)

Track 01 - Firework by Katy Perry. When I first heard this song I was so inspired. It really affected me, I kept the music video up on my computer and listened to it every day for a week or two. It has a really powerful message and it's sort of what I want out of life - not to be a little candle in the dark but to be like fireworks against the night sky.

Track 02 - Hello Hurricane by Switchfoot. The chorus is what makes this song part of my soundtrack.
"Hello hurricane, you're not enough

Hello hurricane, you can't silence my love

I've got doors and windows boarded up
All your dead end fury is not enough
You can't silence my love, my love"

Track 03 - Stolen by Dashboard Confessional. This is my Josh song for now :-). I know it sounds totally cheesy but I'm just gonna go ahead and say it he stole my heart. You have my permission to be grossed out.

Track 04 - Sweet Disposition by Temper Trap. In my personal opinion this song tells a story even without the words. The music itself is so beautiful. But when you add the lyrics, they're great. They're open for interpretation but to me they really just mean what will be, will be and you've got to just roll with it. It's nice at such a pivotal point in my life when I'm making decisions that will shape the rest of my life to be reminded that life just happens.

Track 05 - These Are the Days by Natalie Merchant and 10,000 Maniacs. I only have about 1 1/2 semesters left in college and I am having the time of my life. With my roommate, with my boyfriend, with my family, with my new kitten...I think I'm making memories everyday.

Track 06 - Better Together by Jack Johnson. I think the boy deserves two songs! Let's face it everyone thinks it's better when they're with their other half.

Track 07 - Everlasting Light by the Black Keys. NO, this isn't another sappy tribute to my fantastic boyfriend. It's just one of the songs I listen to when I'm sad because it's so sweet and so optimistic.

Track 08 - Put Your Records On by Corinne Bailey Rae. This is just a totally happy and optimistic song. I want to always have a hopeful outlook on life. I like to think Corinne Bailey Rae is singing the song to a friend and encouraging someone. So maybe this is also a tribute to all of my close friends that are always there for me.

Here's a little playlist I made. It has videos too (click the little video box in the top left corner)! Unfortunately, I couldn't find the version of These Are the Days that I wanted...so I had to settle for a less awesome one. Hope you enjoy listening to the soundtrack of my life....for today.

My Unofficial Neice...

Baby Bea (AKA Bailey) will be here so soon! My best friend since about the 5th grade is having a precious baby girl very soon. The due date is Jan 29...so we'll see. I'm so excited...and usually I don't get that excited about babies. But I'm so anxious I've already bought/made her a lot of cool stuff. (Ummm...can you imagine what's going to happen when she's actually here??!) So I just want to show you some of the awesome stuff I got her :-):

If you have a child and you've never heard of Rockabye Baby or Twinkle Twinkle Little Rock Star you should go to itunes, or rhapsody, or whatever your preference for buying music and look them up! It will rock your world. I bought Bea two cd's that are lullaby renditions of Queen and Journey. Can I just say they're amazing!! You can get them super cheap on Amazon.com :-).

Yea...I know what you're all thinking "Whoa Krystle, best present ever!" jkjk you're probably thinking, "Whoa, I have to check this out." But I digress, I'll stop trying to read your mind.

In addition to those two phenomenal gifts (which I was so excited about I gave them to her before the baby shower!) I made a couple of brand spankin new onesies for her - courtesy of the Hello Ladies Sweatshop.

Here's one with a cute frilly collar (3-6 months)

I've got even more ideas for this one and for larger ones like 12 months and up :-)

Here's the other one that I am pretty proud of:
A bee onesie...like Bea :-). I'm pretty proud of my play on words there.

If you wanna see more stuff that we've recently finished in the Hello Ladies Sweatshop you should check out the HL blog!

The Soundtrack of My Life...today...

So, my friend and fellow HL made everyone these awesome cd's and I love it sososo much! Well, it inspired me to do this little project. I had so much fun. I mean a LOT of fun. I've decided to make a playlist that represents the important things in my life. This will probably change..like in 5 minutes. BUT as of right this second if my life were a movie this would be my soundtrack.

1. Burn Out Brighter – Anberlin: I really just want to live a life with a purpose and this song is so inspiring! “Live, I want to live inspired. Die, I want to die for something higher than myself.”

2. Dreams Be Dreams – Jack Johnson: This song makes me want to turn all my dreams into reality “Don’t let your dreams be dreams”

3. Let Your Light Shine – Hillsong Kids: Um, ok don’t judge me. it’s my guilty pleasure. :-) I L.O.V.E. this song. Me and my roomie sing it all the time!

4. Hard to Make a Stand – Sheryl Crow: I feel like this one and the next one are kind of self – explanatory…

5. I Won’t Back Down – Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers

6. Stuck In A Moment – U2: Yes, even I have bad days. I just have to remember not to get stuck in a rut. (PS I llllllove U2!)

u2 360 tour sin palabras, Vertigo
( ro.ramirez )

7. Lost – Coldplay: I just love the idea of “Just because I’m losing doesn’t mean that I’m lost, doesn’t mean that I’ll stop”

8. Don’t Stop Believin’ – Journey: Okay, it’s kind of my theme song...Don’t Stop Believin’ is my ringtone on pretty much everyone’s phone lol and it’s sort of turned into a mantra

9. Let’s Go Crazy – Prince and the Revolution: This is my song for college. Because college life is pretty hectic. Sometimes a little overwhelming and it drives me crazy. Haha and because I wanted to put Prince on my list.

10. You’ve got a friend in me: My dedication to Lauren. She’s always always always been there for me no matter what. Hands down the best friend I’ve ever had – girl-wise that is. I hope I’m as good to her as she is to me! (PS this is my ringtone for her!)

11. Girls Just Want To Have Fun - Cindy Lauper: This is for my Hello Ladies. Because that's what we really do in the sweatshop, all the cool stuff we make is just a side effect of all the fun we're having!

12. Just Like A Star – Corinne Bailey Rae: I never expected to find Josh, I wasn’t even looking for him, and then all of a sudden he was there - “Just like a star across my sky.”
13. The Only One – Yael Naïm: Not only does this have the coolest music video everrrr! It’s so cute and it always makes me think of Josh.

What are some songs that would be on your soundtrack?

Be crafty!
