Day 13 of 30 days of me

A letter to someone who has hurt you recently

I haven't really been hurt by anyone recently, and even if I had...I try my best to stay positive and not dwell on anything in my past hurtful or not. The present is where it's at. So I've decided to keep it along the lines of writing a letter but I'm going to write a letter to myself in 10 years :-). I think that's way more fun don't you?

Dear Krystle,

I hope you're reading this on a warm sunny day without a care in the world. I hope that you're as happy as I've dreamed in your marriage and your job maybe even in parenting...you haven't decided that one yet. Do you remember about ten years ago when people were always telling you "college will be the best days of your life..." You never liked hearing that. I think you're going to prove to people that college doesn't have to be the best days of your life. You like to believe that your best days are always ahead of you, so you have something to look forward to. I really hope you haven't given up on filmmaking because you've always loved it. A lot of people never understood that but you don't let it get you down. Have your priorities changed much? They used to be mainly Church, The Boy, college, and crafting. I'm sure they've changed because you shouldn't be in college at age 31. I can't see the future though, so if you are I won't hold it against you. When you think of me I hope you do it with a smile. I hope you remember how much I enjoyed life at 21 and remember how excited I was and how hard I worked to become you. I pray you have many many more years of happiness!

Love,
Krystle

Day 12 of 30 days of me

How you found out about blogger and why you have one.

Well, I had a lot of things to say (not to anyone in particular) and I didn't want them to be notes on facebook for everyone to see. So I searched and found blogger. Originally I had planned to post lists and funny stories that happen to me on an almost daily basis. Because I have a notebook full of crazy lists. I want to print it one day and put it on my coffee table because I think that would be cute and nostalgic. I made most of the lists with friends or about friends. They each have special memories attached to them. The blog turned out to be a sort of crafty-ish, life-ish blog.

Day 11 of 30 days of me

Another picture of you and your friends.

These are some of my best friends in the entire world! We just happened to be lucky enough to start a business (Hello Ladies) together but it's so much fun it doesn't ever feel like work. I can't wait to see what the rest of the year has in store for us! I love you ladies!!!!

Day 10 of 30 days of me

songs you listen to when you are happy, sad, bored, hyped, mad

When I'm happy I can listen to almost anything. But my definite go to artist is Jack Johnson. I listen to him no matter what mood I'm in. Now if I have to pick certain songs (which I really don't want to but I will because I follow directions)
Afew of my
happy songs would be: Mika - Big Girl You Are Beautiful, U2 - Beautiful Day, Jack Johnson - Better Together, Karen O and the Kids - CAPSIZE
sad songs would be: Paramore - All I Wanted Was You, Coldplay - Everything's Not Lost, Kings of Leon - Revelry
bored songs would be: I love listening to musical soundtracks when I'm bored (or anytime really) My favorites are Sweeney Todd and Moulin Rouge
hyped songs would be: I don't really understand what this one means...but Angels and Airwaves songs always make me feel pumped and ready to conquer the world if that counts. Recently I've been loving their song Call to Arms.
mad songs would be: If I'm mad I like to listen to Jack Johnson because it really calms me down. But if I don't want to calm down I listen to some angry rock songs.

I don't really have certain songs for certain moods though...lol this post was hard because I had to really over analyze my itunes.

Day 9 of 30 days of me

Something you're proud of in the last few days.

I made a cake for Girls' Night Out last friday and I stood against all kinds of adversity while making it. Like my 1st 12 in round cake stuck to the pan, the second one broke in half, I had to make 4 batches of buttercream icing and I ran out of vanilla and butter. In the end I salvaged what I could. It didn't look like I had originally planned for it to. However, it did look pretty good considering all my mistakes and what I had to work with. You can scroll down and read the story of my cake or click here.

What's the latest accomplishment you're proud of??

Day 8 of 30 days of me

Short term goals for this month and why.

1. To hone in my cake making skills for my cousin's wedding.
2. Take a little time every day to just chill out because September is going to be a crazy month and I don't want to have any breakdowns.
3. To get my classes organized. I'm currently taking all of my notes in one notebook which won't be good when tests start happening.
4. Make some super cute fall/winter merch for Hello Ladies :-)

September really is going to be a crazy month I could have so many more goals...but then it would just look like a really long to-do list. lol

cake catastrophe

Okay,
I worked on the cake about 9 hours. It is finished. I have cried alone in my room about it. I'm over it. (not really, but i'm getting there.) Seriously, I can't even count the things that went wrong. Definitely #1 on the list being that the top layer of the bottom tier broke in half...the bottom tier is consequently not level and sort of looked like a butt until i put some decoration on it. I only need it to hold together until tomorrow night. hopefully it will survive the ride to benton.

I tried to cover as many mistakes as possible with decorations and these pictures were taken from the "good side" lol

Also, on a completely unrelated note: I get frustrated with people who aren't good at distinguishing fiction from real life. (just a tiny rant I won't bother you with details.)

p.s. I will be back and catch up on days 8, 9, & 10 of 30 days of me on Monday. I have a ridiculously packed weekend ahead of me.

Back to school, back to schoooool...

Just in case you couldn't hear me singing that...it's the Billy Madison back to school song. haha
I'm starting my junior year in about 8 hours! How exciting. I just wanted to share that I am legitimately excited about school this semester because (a) it's an awesome schedule time wise (b) I'm taking all history and film classes...none of those nonsense classes that I don't care about and (c) I don't have to take any classes with a certain professor that was the source of two B's and many more breakdowns last semester.

YAY!! I hope you all have an awesome Thursday :-). I'll let you know about my adventures soon.
p.s. I'll also be finishing this cake tomorrow. Wish me luck!

day 7 of 30 days of me

A picture of someone/something that has the biggest impact on you.

I feel like it has to be my parents. I've lived with them for 21 years, they've shaped me and supported me. They literally made me who I am. They would do just about anything for me, even though I don't deserve it all the time. I love them dearly and I'm so glad that they are my parents and no one else :-). Thanks mom and dad!

I don't understand why...

I still want a job in a bakery.

Um...so I'm making a cake for Girls' Night Out this Friday....and today was not as productive as I'd hoped. I'm a little discouraged but I know in the end I'm going to pull it off and it will be worth it. It's just a lot of work and I made some stupid mistakes today.

I have one cake left to bake. I still have to stack and ice them all. I still have to make the fondant and then cover them in fondant. Then I have to decorate them. It's going to look great. I just have to not stress myself out because I'm also starting school Thursday...and I'm going to be in Benton tomorrow. Lucky for me first day of classes shouldn't be too hard and I get out at 12:05 so I should have all day Thurs. to work on this project. (The project I volunteered for so I'm not complaining...I'm just getting it all written down to get a handle on what I need to get done. haha)

day 6 of 30 days of me.

Favorite superhero and why.

Okay, since I was a kid I have always ALWAYS been about Batman. ANNND for a kid I had a pretty awesome reason too. I liked Batman because he was a normal guy doing awesome stuff. He wasn't perfect. He didn't get bit by some radioactive spider or come from another planet or have gamma poisoning. He was troubled and he had a lot of baggage that he had to deal with. Granted, Batman had some trouble in his career distinguishing between right and wrong but I have always been a fan because, other than the fact that he was filthy rich, he was an average guy doing superhero worthy things :-).

I just gave everyone a sneak peek of how much of a true nerd I am...haha who is your favorite superhero.

Do you remember when....

I said one of my 4 simple goals was to make this new house feel more like a new home...
I hung some pictures in my room that are super dear to my heart. One is the picture that Josh drew for me I ♥ it so much. :-) just looking at it makes me happy.

The other is a print that I bought from Elsie at Renegade in Austin. Looking at it reminds me that a) I love pandas. b) that was pretty much the best weekend ever. c) i think i have a tiny girl crush on elsie. lol

so this is officially my favorite wall :-)
So, to reward myself (because I also put some pictures on the fridge and in the hallway pics of that to come later!!) I found a new hairstylist :-). He's affordable and really nice! Today I just got my hair cut, but when I asked him how much he would charge to touch up my roots (because they're terrible) he said $65!!! WHAAAAT??? I used to pay $95! I immediately booked an appointment for next month. I think we are going to have a good relationship, Kevin and I. I'm loving these simple goals.

day 5 of 30 days of me

A picture of somewhere you've been.

I couldn't choose just one!! This summer I had an amazing opportunity to travel to the Dominican Republic and it was beautiful. It was one of the best experiences of my life...these pictures don't begin to do it justice.

day 4 of 30 days of me

A habit you wish you didn't have.

I skip meals and don't realize it until it's late. Then I don't feel like eating a whole meal so I end up eating snacks like chips and salsa/ranch dip, or a cup full of oatmeal squares. I know it's unhealthy...but when I get busy (which is often) hunger just moves down to the bottom of my priority list. It's hard when your momentum is built up to just stop for 30 minutes and eat. It's to the point where people who know me (roommates, boyfriend, parents) will ask me when was the last time I ate lol. It's also annoying because anytime I start feeling sick, people immediately tell me it's because of my eating habits. I don't skip meals everyday people!

What are some habits you wish you didn't have?

day 3 of 30 days of me

A picture of you and your friends

This is a couple years old...but it was my senior prom. One of the weirdest, most stressful, wonderful, happiest days of my high school life. Haha I covered the spectrum of emotions that day...crying, angry, scared, and totally happy. My classmates voted me prom queen :-).

day 2 of 30 days of me

The meaning behind your blog name.

It's not a profound story or anything. My mom and her sister had children 4 months apart. Me first and then my cousin. So we were together a lot and she couldn't say my name right. It always came out "krackle" instead of krystle. And it stuck, my dad still calls me krackle and my grandma called me that until the day she died. Some of my friends know the story and they use it too. Oddly enough, my cousin who started it all never calls me that anymore ha. So, Krackle is my nickname.

Intriguing story...i know haha.

Day 1 of 30 days of me

Okay, the original guidelines said a recent picture of you and 15 interesting facts about yourself...but I don't have very many pictures of just plain ol me. So, I decided to post some pics from my bff Char's wedding. She was so beautiful!

1. When I was in 2nd grade I wrote and directed a play. The cast members were my classmates and we performed it in my back yard. My dad even rigged up two big blue tarps as our stage curtain.
2. When I was little I painted an empty detergent bottle black and attached a little crank handle (it was a video camera!) Then I proceeded to follow people around the house with it "filming them".
3. I have a slight phobia of bearing children. (not raising them, just actually having them lol oh and 'slight' might be an exaggeration)
4. Until I was in 9th grade my heart's desire was to attend Ole Miss.
5. I eat my food one at a time...and if there are french fries involved they are always #1.
6. The first soundtrack I ever owned was Aladdin :-) my brother bought it for me.
7. Even though my brother is 16 years older than me, I consider him one of my best friends.
8. I absolutely love musicals my favorite of all time is Moulin Rouge followed by Sweeney Todd.
9. I play my Jack Johnson record almost every day.
10. I am totally fanatical about Elvis Presley!
11. I'm pretty much a cat person but I'm making an exception for a sweet little dog named Lillian Gaga Dinkus who is moving in with me very soon.
12. I can eat ice cream anytime...i mean after a 14 course meal I would probably still have room for some ice cream.
13. The night my grandma passed away I knitted an entire ball of yarn into a super long, messy scarf that I still wear.
14. I have always had love for Robert Downey Jr., even during the drug years.
15. I just moved into a new house in May and it is the only place I have ever lived other than my parents' home which they built together 32 years ago. :-)

I hope you enjoyed that. p.s. if you're participating in the challenge leave me a comment because I would love to get to know you better!

Hello optimism.

I don't even know why. Maybe I'm just really feeling the back to school spirit...but I'm just so excited about life -- all of it. My present and my future. There's just so much for me to be thankful for/happy about right now. I have the best friends, the best boyfriend, the best family, the best housemates. I love my major(s), I love my crafts. I just love life right now.

I'm a girl so I like to change my mind and one day I might decide I'm not excited. So I want to have this post to remind me that I have lots and lots to be excited about. :-)

p.s. I'm going to be doing a blog challenge with Kellie starting tomorrow (Thursday). I'm pretty excited about it. You should join us. Go check out her blog for more details!

4 simple goals before 2011

So, Elsie, a little lovely that I blog stalk began a project called 4 simple goals. I'm so in! I have way more than 4 things that I need to accomplish before this year is over...but I like keeping it simple. If you want to join in on the fun check out her post with the guidelines :-).

Beginning my junior year of college I'm not going to be ignorant and expect this semester to be any easier. I desperately want to organize my school related business so I have fewer nervous breakdowns this year :-).

Another of my ultimate goals is to find cheap ways to cook at least once or twice a week. (real meals not just grilled cheese lol) I love cooking but my income is not conducive to buying groceries. I dread the grocery store check out because my account takes overdraft charges from another account my parents manage. haha I'm not worried they'll be mad, I suppose I could be spending money on worse things right? I just don't like feeling as if I'm a huge vacuum attached to their wallet.

Simple goal number 3: to make my new house feel more like a new home. I think I can start by hanging pictures in my bedroom and hallway  I know every wall doesn't HAVE to have something on it but I have never had a nice well lit hallway before and I want to take full advantage of it :-).

My last simple goal is writing down all of the movie ideas that pop into my head. On the long drive home from Oklahoma last week I thought of so many cool ideas for both documentaries and fiction films. EXCITING :-). Perhaps I'll start carrying a sweet looking notebook with me everywhere just for those thoughts.

I can't wait to accomplish these and celebrate!!

I hope you all plan on having a fantastic week because I do :-). Excuse me while I go prepare for craft night tomorrow it will be fan-craftin-tastic. Do you like that word? I just made it up...

big weekend, big changes

Crazy, crazy times here. While I was visiting Mandy, my beautiful boys (boyfriend, brother, dad, and brother's friend) finally put tile down in my kitchen. OHMYGOODNESS it is so fabulous!

Seriously, appreciate your good quality floors if you have them. This whole house was nasty brown stained/textured concrete...impossible to sweep or mop or vacuum. Now I have wood and tile except in my bathrooms and their day is coming soon!

I am so happy it got done because next Monday I'm starting a small group at my house :-). It's a craft night of course. I'm excited because 1. CPC Conway is new and exciting and 2. because I'll get to craft with some of my good friends and some new friends as well. It is going to be super fun and cute.

I had an outrageous good time with Mandy and her family! We stopped at Pops on Rt. 66 and I got an orange cream soda. It was fabulous. This giant coke bottle lights up different colors at night. It's pretty cool!

We, of course, went to the movies...several times! One theater we went to in Bricktown....O.M.G. it was so spectacular. The curtains opened for the movie and they played some grand music. It felt like a real event I was in love. I tried my best to put together a panoramic view. Here it is...

ANNND this is our sweet little puppy Lillian Gaga Dinkus. Who, I will be calling various forms of the name Dinkus haha. I took a Hello Ladies bow for her to try on and guess what...she hated it. BUT, she loves taking pictures hehe.

I can see HL doggie accessories in the near future...
Isn't she lovely. :-)

I hope you have had a lovely summer so far.

Mandy and Me.

I'm road tripping to OKC in a few hours to see my other half Mandy M. I am so excited I can't even explain it. We are going to have so much fun. This is a mini vacation for me I can't wait to be totally stress free with my bff for a few days. I also can't wait until she finally moves in with me. I can't believe we've been apart for most of the summer... I know that sounds incredibly lame of me. I can't help it that we're practically the same person and when she's not around I actually make notes in my phone of things I have to talk to her about. My quality of life will definitely improve when she gets moved in here.

lol I guess this was my tribute to Mandy M. I'll come back to blogger and try to keep it consistent...starting after I get home from the best short vacation ever :-).
