Pessimists are never happy.

Well, I made it out of Conway before the storm hit...so I got stuck with my parents at their house. I was pretty happy about it. :-)

We had this on Saturday morning. It wasn't much snow, just a thin layer over ice. However, dad scraped the snow off of all three of our vehicles so that mom and I could make Snow Ice Cream. I personally, think it was our best batch everrrr! So delicious. I truly am heartbroken that Josh can't eat ice cream and even if he could he's not a big fan of sweets...because he missed out big time on this year's snow ice cream.

I ventured outside to stick my toes in the snow...for about 2 seconds, then I went back inside to watch my shows in the DVR and knit. Yes, knit because I left my crochet hooks at school...:-( sad day.

I must say, I had a pretty fantastic day today. It was a lot better than I expected it to be. That'll teach me not to be a pessimist. I'm excited about this week because Wednesday I have an eye appointment. Hopefully, I'll get to order some new glasses. I know I need glasses, because I'm supposed to be wearing them now...but I lost them and I'm pretty sure my prescription changed. Sooo, here are some pics of glasses. I'm so not cool enough to look stylish in glasses like these beauties...but I like to pretend that I am so I don't feel foolish when I wear them.

*found on weheartit.com keyword: glasses* If anyone knows the original sources let me know. Thanks!
Well, here's hoping everyone has a fabulous week. Much love :-)

It's called shame and you shouldn't have any.

Today is day 17 of the CPC fast and I'm loving it so far. I've really been thinking about how awesome God is. He's so faithful and so reliable. I know he's the one consistant thing in my life. It's hard to understand why christians are ashamed of God sometimes. There's nothing that he's done that we should be ashamed of...in fact everything he's done is just another reason to praise and honor him. Here's another thought, God is not ashamed of us no matter what we've done. I know sometimes I just feel like a huge train wreck, but no matter how much I screw up God isn't ashamed of me. If God can be a friend to me when I don't really deserve it, then how much more should I respect and honor him because he actually is deserving. Seriously...it's something to think about. ANNND I know I'm kind of a freak about U2 but, their song 40 is basically Psalm 40, which is the scripture that got this on my mind. So, read Psalm 40 because it will really make you appreciate God's unfailing love for you. Then after you read it you should listen to this song :-) I put it here just for you.

Check it Out!

I am so excited because my best friends mom (practically my second mom) and cake making mentor, Carla,  now has a blog Carla's Cakes! She makes these fabulous cakes right in her own home kitchen. They are mindblowing. Not only do they look stunning, but they taste great as well. She has taught me everything I know about cake decorating (which isn't much) and she's also helping me with Charlie's wedding cake coming up in March. If you have an event and would like a custom cake you should definitely talk to her. She usually does one cake a week so let her know in advance so she can save the date for you.

Just a Thought.

It's day 15 of the CPC fast. It's been pretty eye opening so far, at least for me. I just wanted to share a thought today. How fabulous is it that we can be cleansed and become instruments for noble purposes, useful to God? I think if there's one thing that I pray more than anything it's usually "God, please don't let me be useless." No one wants to be useless, I hope. And how convenient is it that while we don't want to be useless, God has a specific purpose that he wants to use us for :-)? He wants to cleanse us and set us on a path to pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace. All four of those sound pretty good to me. I'm glad that God doesn't think I'm useless. Think about it. What's your purpose? (2 Timothy 2:21,22)

Be an instrument...:-)

The coffee table situation got taken care of. Now, I'm in my first complete week of school and I hope it's nice to me. I'm going to do some more headphones this week and the DIY will be on HL blog I promise. Last night we had some fun in the HL Sweatshop. I made a couple valentines. I'm working on some cute stuff for our Etsy update in February...so mark your calendars!

Love is in the air...

Guess what. My birthday is in 24 days :-). It's also Valentine's day just so you know...and I like Valentine's Day. I don't care if you think Hallmark made it up to make money, I like cheesy valentine cards and construction paper hearts. I know it's a little early to start talking V-day but here are some pictures to help you remember how much you love Valentine's Day!

I'm in love with this! Owls and Valentine's Day are a perfect match.

I want to hang this pic in my house lol

Letters are so sweet. I love writing letters with Josh :-).

It's Not Wednesday Anymore...

I have class in about 7 1/2 hours...and I've just finished my Intro to Historical Research homework. So please forgive me because I don't have any pictures to show you YET. I'll put some up tomorrow. Steph Campbell posted a link on my facebook wall for headphone sleaves. It keeps your headphones from getting tangled, so they'll last longer because they're less likely to short out on you. It's basically a really simple crochet stitch around your headphone wires. I'm not sure exactly what stitch, but I do know it was so easy that I did one just from looking at the picture tonight. (I'm a pattern girl, so that means a lot.) I started it around 5 and was done in a couple hours. Then of course I had to start on my history homework so I haven't taken any pictures. If you would like to see some now on etsy check out this shop. Or, if you're interested you can let me know and I can do this for you!! I'm thinking of posting a tutorial over on the HL blog. It is SO easy, I promise even if you don't know how to crochet, you can do this.

Goodbye Long Weekend

I'm glad  and sad to see you go.

WOW :-) Keith and Mary Hudson were at CPC this weekend and it was weird and awesome at the same time. They're also known as Katy Perry's parents. They're evangelists and let me just tell you they are not for the faint of heart. I must say, if I had to pick a favorite weekend this would not be it, however, it was still pretty refreshing to have them.

Actually, I'm not gonna lie to you. I feel like everything I was around got messed up this weekend. Saturday I went with my fam to work on the house and my dad painted one stripe all the way down a wall that is completely the wrong color. He was trying to cover up where something had peeled the paint off...now it's painfully obvious. Sunday Josh and I were gonna ride the bike because it was super nice outside...well the bike fell over and some stuff broke. Needless to say, Josh was a wee bit upset. He said 15 words to me the whole day after that. I counted, it was three phrases of five words each. lol (I'm really good at stats, don't think I'm weird.) Lucky for me one of the sentences was "I'm not mad at you." Poor Josh, he loves that bike. He felt bad for letting it put him in such a bad mood, but I don't blame him at all. I'm the same way about my prized posessions. I hope it's an easy fix. Finally today, our home computer crashed right after I sent an email to one of my professors about a missing assignment AND I narrowly avoided a carrot cake catastrophe.

Just so you don't think I'm complaining, I'm not counting this weekend as a complete bust. I mean I could, if I didn't put my hope in Jesus. He's got my back and we're BFF so things are looking up :-). ALSO, one of the ATH boys brought me some yarn tonight. (ATH means across the hall) How sweet. So I'm going to make him something with it. I have to find something manly for him though. OH and I made my final sketch for Char's wedding cake design.
I'm really excited because it's my first wedding cake and the first time I've painted a cake...So I'm very grateful that Char has confidence in me and took a chance by letting me make the cake for one of the most special days of her life :-)! And on the subject of Char's wedding and good things that happened this weekend, my mom fixed my bridesmaid dress in a few hours. It fits like a glove and I can't wait to wear it! So there was my weekend in all its gloom and glory. I choose to focus on the glorious parts.

On the way back to Conway tonight, I listened to the gospel station...oh I wish I could be in a gospel choir... lol For some choir inspiration you should listen to U2 - Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For, off of the Rattle and Hum album. It wasn't on the gospel station tonight...but I've been in love with it for years. It's so fantastic...If you can't find it I'll send you the cd. Seriously, it's a crime if you don't have it.

Sittin', Waitin', Wishin'

Well, I have started the slippers. It will take a while for me because I'm crocheting them much tighter than my usual work. I also made a cute iphone sweater from a pattern in my head. I'm glad it worked I think I'll give it to SarahBeth...I already made one for Jess and I think she loves it.

Also, after yesterday, today has been much much better. I have one class left in a few minutes. I am very excited because I played with a polaroid psd frame I got from Elsie's blog a few months ago.

I'm heading to class. I'll be back later to share some encouragement. It's only day 5 of the fast and I already feel it's benefits.

I just want to share a couple things.

A.) I bought my bridesmaid dress for Char's wedding from funnelcakefashion on Etsy...ANNNND it came in the mail today!! I was soooo excited. I tried it on and it's a teeny bit large in the waist/bust area. I'm confident that Mama Payne can fix it in no time though.

Seriously, if you want to buy adorable handmade clothes at affordable prices, you should totally check out her shop! http://funnelcakefashion.etsy.com/

B.) I've been fasting facebook, sweets, and drinking only water for CPC's 21 day fast; but more importantly I've been spending a lot of time in the word. Here's an encouraging thought: God's strength is made perfect in our weakness. There's a word I needed to hear on my first day of school. If my weakness makes God's strength perfect, then I think I just started loving my weaknesses more than my strengths! Just something for you to ponder.

My Day With Casey

Today I'm hangin' with my friend Casey! She's two and tremendous! lol That was the best t-word I could come up with. We've been having a complete blast. We played candy land and watched Caillou, Max & Ruby, Dora, and Kai - Lan. We went camping, hunting (ha), grocery shopping. We had a PJ party, complete with snacks (Dora gummies, of course). We played dress up. Casey dressed me and then took pictures. I let her take some pics with my camera and she's pretty awesome at it lol as you can see from the above and below pics. We also made paper snowflakes...don't think I'm irresponsible I didn't let her use scissors by herself. Only to pose for one picture. With all the fun we were having I have to say I was glad when naptime finally rolled around. It was only a minor confrontation. Anyways, I was a little worried that I would be totally drained and un-crafty tonight at the sweatshop BUT I've had a lot of fun and can't wait to get to Mandy's tonight!

Playing dress up.

My favorite part of today so far was when I made Casey a PB&J sandwich. When she finished she said "That peanut butter and jelly was so delicious. Great job Krystle, I'm so proud of you!" What an amazing kid!

Absence Makes the Heart Grow Fonder

Oh my Lord, it has been far far too long! Our modem went out and we had to wait for FedEX to bring us a new one. Then it took hours to get it up and running. Now I'm back and I can show you some exciting things. Like: these fabulous hand warmers I made for my roomie Caitlin. I can't wait to give them to her. They've been sitting in my yarn basket foreverrrr!

And this: I finally got to move another piece of furniture to Conway! My precious coffee table. I love it to pieces!

AND THIS!!!: A dream come true! I saw a live panda at the Memphis Zoo :-) It's name was Ya Ya or Le Le I'm not really sure because I renamed it Ollie before I even met him. It was pure untainted joy when I saw him. Sarahbeth was like a Panda whisperer getting it to move around so we could have some bonding time. haha I am so revealing what a dork I am right now...but pandas are my favorite animal!

OH and we went to the Liberty Bowl. It was f-f-f-freezinggg! But we had so much fun.

So, in a nut shell, that's what I've been up to since I last posted. Hope you had an awesome New Year's Eve! 2010 is going to be fabulous!
